Harris Corporation - Fair and Balanced
Harris Corp., the giant government information technology and defense contractor caused a stir when In January 2004, the Melbourne Florida USA-based company took charge of the Iraqi Media Network, after being given a $96 million U.S. government contract to equip, rebuild, operate, program and manage the war-torn country's fledgling media network. The contract includes an upgrade to Saddam Hussein's old radio and TV networks, now called al-Iraqiya, and the national newspaper, previously headed by Saddam Hussein's son, Uday.

At the time, Haider Abadi, the Iraqi communications minister, said,"We very much welcome the help of others to reshape our media, but to relinquish our responsibilities and to give control to foreign media is politically and socially wrong," Abadi said, as quoted by the Financial Times.
